havent owned/used front shocks long enough to warrant servicing them before, so would like to know where/how people go about servicing their forks?
i have some Marzocchi Marathon S forks - in great condition, but i've done a fair few miles on them now, so am thinking they could probably do with a checkup/possible service.

i also have some old Manitou Vert x that could do with the bushes replacing (wobble when braking) but cant remove the bushes myself...

what you saying chaps?

Marzocchi forks are generally very straight forward to work on. I've serviced numerous sets and found them very user friendly. Plenty of service guides on the web, so get stuck in! Motorbike shops sell very reasonably priced fork oil too.

yeah, i have the service manual, just a bit hesitant to take forks apart for some reason.
the Manitous are more of a problem really as i have no way of getting the bloody bushes out. would an LBS be tooled up to do something like that?

Honestly, the Marzocchi's would be fine. I'd be happy to offer advise if you feel brave when taking them apart.

Manitou bushes may require a special tool to remove. After all these years a LBS may still have a tool lying around, or have someway of removing them. They may not even need a tool though. I've serviced forks before where the bushes were designed with a split in them and you could remove it by hand (Marz Z1's from memory).

Take a brave pill and get on it :)

i'll probably wait till the christmas holidays for the Marz as they are on my commuter. the manitou are doing nothing, so i may have a go - i think the bushes have a split in them, but they've been in the forks so long they may have made themselves at home :P
