Wheelset and square taper cranks

Dirt Disciple
Hello - I'm looking for a couple of things for my 1989 Ritchey Ascent Comp.

Firstly a newer pair of wheels for rim brakes and 7-speed cassette. I'd prefer silver rims, and Mavic or Ritchey would be my favourites if possible, although I'll consider anything else what will fit. Nothing too pricey. The bike originally had Ritchey rims on XT hubs.

Secondly some half-decent silver square tape cranks. I'm running a single middle ring at the moment. Shimano, Ritchey, Specialized and other period brands acceptable. No pricey and overly-perfect high-price blingers, please, because these will actually be doing quite a lot of riding. The bike originally had XT cranks (been through about 4 chainsets since then...)

The bike is an occasional commuter, circuit-with-the-kids, 'let's go for a bike ride' kind of machine in its current incarnation.

I live in France, so will pay postage, or collect in the UK this summer. Sellers in France or nearby also welcome of course!

I have some lovely silver rimmed Bontrager wheels complete with chrome Shimano QR's, Panaracer smoke/dart tyres. The rear hub is 8 speed but I have a couple of good condition 7 speed cassettes and the correct spacer so could swap this out for you.

Live in Kent just off the M2 and near the M20 so easy for you to collect or happy to post :)

Tim

Re:

Hi,

I have a nice 7-speed wheelset consisting of XT hubs (730/732) on non-matching silver rims (rear Ritchey Vantage Comp, front I'll have to check) to offer :).
Wheels run smoothly and rims have loads of life left.

Here's a quick pic to give you an impression, can provide more detailed pics, if you're interested.

Looking for around 50GBP posted for these.

Cheers!

That bike has moved on to another member on here in the meantime; I'm still curious to see it build up again!

Re:

Got some Shimano FC-M452 175 cranks. They aren't any lookers but the threads and tapers are OK.

Could do them for around a tenner posted?

Re: Re:

Like it, such an innovative design. Good downhill, but odd uphill I'd imagine- ids that right? Reminds me of a photo the the Descender I saw a very long time ago, although shock was a lot more visible in that.

Thanks to everyone who has responded via private message. I'm studying the options and will let you know soon. Good to know this is still the right place to come for this rather esoteric but wonderful world of old bike kit!

I have for sale...
- a pair of LX/DX/XT hubs on Sun Levanter rims in good condition
- XT M740(?) cranks, removal thread on the lefthand arm is ermm not great!
- Sugino cranks, pretty light, can't remember the model
