alluminium is somestimes(very rarely) used as a word to denote an aluminium alloy. the aluminiums used in producing frames and components are not pure aluminium, but alloys. oh, and AL is used in the periodic table because there are other elements that begin with the letter A, so often the first two letters are used.

They don't actually. It was originally called aluminum when it was first discovered but the spelling was changed in order to fit in with the other metals. The Americans still use the original spelling.
