What is the most expensive part you have bought for you bike and what would you spend to get the perfect retro steed?

I am writing this as i was reading about a £10k Ellsworth, a £7k Scott Genius http://www.evanscycles.com/products/sco ... e-ec016241 and this mad thing!!

http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/f ... able-18680

I can understand price when it comes to the quality of te Pauls stuff and some of the small production built frames like Roberts, Merlin, Litespeed etc.

Go on, shock us!

I love the spiel that goes with that: "The Genius is the ideal bike for ... a simple tour with your friends."

I honestly do not know, ...and i do not want to know,...

I do not think you can put a price on parts, i do not want to compare it with art right now but with the current developments in prices for the specialist parts from Morati, Paul, Precision, kooka etc,... and look at the ebay madness topic,...they are not getting any cheaper,..
And it is like paintings,...my dad collects them and i do not see the value in those items as he does,..and he can not imagine why i bought the red Paul mech,..
But, what i would pay ?,..i think it has more to do what i can afford in the period i want the item i am looking for,..and how bad i want it,..
