Got a couple of Aly Marin frames that need cleaning up but dont want to screw up the finish by going at them too hard.
No major scratches just a crazed look - like the missus gives me when I bring home another frame! :)
Suggestions?

Are the frames bare alloy or lacquered? If bare then metal polish like autosol.if lacquer then the crazed look is under it and you'll need to strip it before you can polish it

autosol! :)

Nice result spacehopper :)
Couple of pics of one of the frames, seems to be a residue like limescale on the surtace (or is it Aly oxide)? tried some autosol and it makes an improvement but I guess its going to take a lot more elbow grease

looks like its got laquer on it to me!

that will need to be removed before you can polish it!

nitromors will remove the laquer and any paint if its painted.. :)
messy job though! and wear gloves if you use it...!! my god can that stuff sting!

and you will need LOTS of elbow grease ;)

I've got exactly the same finish where my lacquer has gone off. I'm removing mine with 800 wet and dry (wet, obviously), then 1200 to remove any scratches, then T-cut (not essential but cheaper than Autosol), then Autosol. Quite good results so far, and a good bicep work-out too.
