What's the best way to clean tyres?

OK. I've got some rust wall tyres that are really grubby with that oily?brake rubber residue on them. Other than that they're in good nick (from a time when I changed tyres because I got bored rather than cos they'd warn out! :roll: )

Has anyone found a successful way to clean them. I know some folks put them in the washing machine, but these are wire beads so that's not an option.

Anyone got any ideas?

I use either traffic film remover or patio cleaner depends whichever is in the pressure washer at the time.

If your MadCowKev, put them in the washing machine when the wifes at work.

If your Pickle, and your not as bold (or suicidal) as Kev, use Muc-Off.

I only out white tyres in the washing machine

Don't do dishwashers in this house, so that's out. Was hoping to avoid the elbow grease option if possible. :?

I got caught red handed last summer with the cylinder head for my old Alfa in her brand new dishwasher. She went nuts The head looked as new though so I would risk it again.

Washing machine on a hot wash is good for tyres. If the walls are still grubby afterwards try a little celulose thinners on a rag. Brings em up a treat I would recommend doing it in a confined space too
