Very cool. Are hose home drilled cranks? I remember doing that in around 1993 to a set of LX cranks using a metal drill bit in a hand drill. Took me ages and of course I snapped the crank after a few rides

They are home drilled, they are Shimano, or imano, I am just making assumptions. I think I have some nice black LX ones somewhere that I might replace them with, or some silver Deore ones

Just updating this thread, I haven't forgotten about the old dear even though she was covered in a sheet and dumped in a shed with all the dead bikes and bird crap.

Finally got around to building the wheels last night, running an M7cd on the front and a beefy Mavic DH rim on the rear - the nearest I can get to a match for the front for the time being

Scored a lovely set of blue Maguras from here, and I couldn't resist just a quick hang of some parts to see how the finished article might look

Lots still to do - the BB isn't quite the right length so if I can raise some capital Ill get the sealed one, *&%"in not cheap mind you...
Chain, & rings, fit the brakes properly, pedals, and a good clean for sure

Still, summer biking here we come! Just need to move nearer the beach

Ah, so you went with the same seat They are decent, but be aware they stain pretty quickly and don't offer much support if you're not wearing lycra padding. Let me know how you get on with chain alignment as I'm still facing a few challenges with mine rubbing the frame ever so slightly (my local LBS are going to see if they can correct it as I'm stumped).

What ratio are you going with?

Getting close to getting finished on this beauty

I was having real issues with the BB, and getting the chainline right, so have invested in a Truvativ converter hingymajig, it is pretty awesome, allowing the correct 122.5 BB for the deore cranks to be installed, so eliminating all the chain woes.

The gearing combination is a 36/16 at the moment, I will be mostly using this for cutting about on fairly flat tracks, so I will see if this is going to work.

Got ahold of the required bolt kit to fit the front brake, have sourced some lovely split colour chain from the parts bin and slung some pedals on - ta-dah!
Maiden voyage was 2 minutes round the car park, I might have to swap out the velocity for something a bit more middle aged back friendly
