whats all this mayhem nonsense?

Did my first Mayhem last year with Retrobike and this year I'm back captaining the NWA four man stunt riding all star squad a.k.a. 'Unleash the Inner Chimp'.

With over 50 people riding for RB plus nearly the same again as hangers on you it's not difficult to see why it's such great fun. Thanks to a bit of organisation and early arrivals we'll be once again securing an exclusive RB trackside compound with BBQ, heckling tent, DJ Dorian and his laser light show (Jean Michelle-Jarre quality TM), 24 hour Jenga competition, Concours d'Elegance, swap meet and my tent's bigger than your's bragging rights.
Glastonbury with bikes is a pretty good comparison.

With a bit of luck we might even find a bit of time to get a few laps in too.

Need to stock up on a year's supply of free shower gel first though...

T4... nice... at the Ring? Even nicer...

If your refering to my avatar, it's not mine unfortunately, it's a screen grab from a VW testing film on Youtube.

it looks too hard for me, long distances never being my thing really.

It's a relay, you don't need to ride far. Can you manage 10 miles?

I'm having one of those weird "sense of perspective" moments with all these people who've never heard of Mayhem ;)

Even MikeD was at the first one in 1998. I recall having a chat with him whilst pushing our bikes up one of the muddy inclines that littered the Trentham Gardens course.

Those were the days, it's never like that any more :)

I wouldn't say no to having that 853 Explosif back, mind.

As for solo, Mayhem wouldn't be (and indeed wasn't) my first choice for such a thing. It's a fun, sociable weekend with a course that's bearable to hammer round once every four hours. I lack the patience to grind around it continuously, it's just not interesting enough :/

How does it work as a solo event then? you can only keep going for so long before you are to tired I presume? do you take wee, poo, food, sleep breaks?
