Most suppliers will expect a minimum order off smaller bike shops, usually £250 or thereabouts, so if you want something that costs them £50 and they very rarely use that supplier it makes it tricky. There are also the suppliers that offer free postage with orders over £xx, again if the shop orders something in but ends up paying the postage they end up making very little money*



*it could be argued that in cases such as this the point is not to make a chunk of money but to keep the customer happy, but if they do not make money its kinda tricky to be there in 3 months time when you need something else.

Pretty much every bike shop in Bristol can do some or all of the above. Pretty close to mountain and road bike heaven.

Me - I know my stuff (biiiiig pinch of salt there!), can make tea, have biscuits, all the tools, can build a wheel and have a nice clean tidy workshop...

Like Hand Crafted Wheels there workshop has every tool they need and some they dont on top of that they can build wheels on site and for mail order and make tea offer beer annd snack's and the workshop is spotless and open's late and early for customers I've even heard that if a customers skint he doesn't mind lowering the price to help out too

I know this as its my bike shop only open when im not offshore but i still get loads of trade

When i get home iv'e got 14 pairs of wheels to build :shock: glad im having ten days off before when i get home
