Cross Country races with Downhill sections, Downhill Races being added to the weekend events itinerary, even dual slalom was being added...!!!

Where were you in the world, and what were you riding at this point in time....?

Did you have something specific for the Job...?

Show us what you had if you can.....?

I wouldn't ever profess to be any good at riding but in 92 I am pretty sure i was riding a gt rts-2 for whatever ride. No specific tool for the job aside from this. Probably my favourite bike, until it broke. It's what got me started on here, looking to relive my youth and find another one. Sadly I had to make do with a nos team rts instead, which due to me wanting to keep it forever, has probably done less than 200 miles

I never competed in downhill.... Just a recreational gravity goon.

First downhilling I ever did was in 1994. A day at Mt. Cranmore, NH. Lift ticket was $18 and the prospect of DH'ing all day far outweighed the day at the shops of North Conway my family had planned. I was about 17.

My ride was my 22" '94 Hardrock. Duotrack 7001's on the front blowing thru their 40-oddmm of travel at every pebble. The 48 tooth big ring rocked the service road 'round the back of the mountain. Melted brake pads on the double black diamond descents. Achieved 75kph on the service road.

Always felt back then that downhill should be raced on bikes that could also go uphill.

Over the next year, I ditched the Duotracks and replaced them with Tange Struts (just about as bad, but looked cooler and were lighter). Eventually bought my Stumpy's frame and fork, and moved the rest of the 'rock over to it....

plenty of fun downhill action around dartmoor and local stuff around plymouth, mainly raced at newnham. bike wise it as a generic bonded steel frame with owt i could beg steal or borrow off of rich mates. upgraded from 70gs to anything better haha, eventually got a saracen andes fs in 93/4 and rode it till it was stolen many years later

only pic of have of me on that bike is from clumber park 96/7

I was 14-15. Did a U18 event in Ontario on my 1991 Stumpjumper (all I had). Good first run ... wicked crash on my second. I switched to boat racing  Actually the sponsorship deal I signed limited what I could do competitively. Besides ... I could do more damage in a race boat.

Trek 970 Singletrack. In red. Deore DX iirc.

Same bike as i was racing uphill and in trials.

Man it was hard work. Not surprised i gave up for a few years!

Re:

1992, I was riding one of these with AMP F3 forks! I sold it in about 2000, if you bought it call me!

I had also fitted a riser bar with brace, Hope Ti lite hubs in wheels I built, Middleburn cranks and a Hope Ti BB. A USE seat post and Flite Ti saddle.

Those were the days!
