Saturday, solo MTB run, hard and fast and get covered in mud. Brilliant.

Saturday night, nip into town and rent The Flying Scotsman (for those of you that don’t know, it’s the story of legendary track cyclist Graham Obree). Amazing film.

Sunday, another muddy ride, but this time a social one with SPESHMIKE.

The Avalanche is filthy, the washing machine full of stinking kit, but what a weekend! 8)

You must have a very understanding wife !! You've ridden more this month than I reckon i did all last year...

Allow me to tack my weekend onto yours.

FairfaxPat and Joe Breeze rigged a helmet mount for Pat's new video camera, and Pat and I along with a couple of our mates took it out to Repack for a trial run. It's a challenging climb to get there, as MrKawasaki will attest, and Pat, Warren and I all "cleaned" the toughest part of the climb together, a cause for some celebration.

I had my new Gravity Dropper waiting for me at the bike shop, so this was the last time I would have to manually lower my saddle. At the top of the Repack hill, Pat turned on the camera and told me to start riding. I thought, "I can drop the saddle on the fly," but I was wrong about that and fifteen or twenty seconds into Pat's first recording, he got me going OTB, fortunately at a slow walking speed.

Through the miracle of cellphones we had located Joe, and he met us at the bottom of the Repack trail, where he and Pat exchanged helmets and Joe took the camera back up for another run.

Whole filming a run of his own, Joe got a flat and HE went OTB! First day with the helmet camera, two very experienced MTBers hit the dirt and it's all on video.

I thought some of you might want to see what Joe is riding, a very collectible FS Breeze Twister with an IRD fork.

Here's Pat showing the first run to a friend we met on the trail, before Joe takes the camera back up the hill. Here's also a closeup of Joe's bike.

That video footage going to be online at all?

I don't really want to see you guys fall...but I do want to see OG MTB riding style!

I am planning to make some more runs down REPACK and then edit the footage to give all of you guys a GOOD look at the REPACK run. I will be including a couple of outtakes showing the crashes, etc. I think the plan now is to burn the DVD and send it to Mrkawasaki, who will figure out how to post it. So, sometime soon (month or two) and it will be done. I am also contemplating video runs of other well known California MTB RIDES, such as the Marin Boy Scout Camp (many acres of technical up and down trails here in Fairfax), the Flume trail at Lake Tahoe, the Downieville Downhill-a bit long, but really cool- and perhaps the Mammoth Mountain Kamikaze downhill. What do you guys think? Input would be appreciated!
