what tools you need depends on what sort of bottom bracket is on the bike.
Older style cup & cone bottom bracket is at the bottom of the pic (you need a (14mm?) socket for the crank bolt, a crank-puller tool, C-spanner, Pin Spanner, and an adjustable wrench). You can still buy replacement parts for these BB's ie bearings, cups, axles, depending if parts are worn out.
More modern Shimano sealed bottom bracket type as seen at the top of the 1st pic, (you need a large allen key ( 9mm

) a crank puller tool, and the special serrated tooth tool to remove the cups).
These are a sealed "fit & forget unit" if it's knackered you'll have to throw it in the bin and buy a new one.
Don't forget, the drive side is a LEFT HAND THREAD!
Also, you may find it difficult to remove after being in the frame for so long, some penetrating oil , and if possible some down the seatpost to work its way into the threads from the inside will help, as will lots of leverage
