What tools and spares you carry?

As above and how do you lug them around with you ?

For a couple of hours loop from home type rides and in no particular order
- pair of tyre levers
- spare tube (first to be used)
- pack of Park type patches (if I’m unlucky enough to puncture twice)
- small section sidewall (probs 5 cm long) cut from an old tyre in case of a major blowout
- magic link for chain and chain tool
- multi tool - type with Allen keys and the step up socket to fit crank bolt
- pair of nitrile gloves
- a few quid in change
- a few cable ties
- if I’m riding fixed - a stubby adjustable to fit axle nuts
- a pac a mac
- I’ve got a little anodised multi spanner that has 10/9/8mm on it - doubt it would last many uses but would get me back on the road.
- bottle cage bolt mounted pump

All of this fits in a Topeak wedge or similar.
I’ve built up quite a few of these kits and relevant pumps over time so I don’t have to swap between bikes. Other than fixing punctures I think I’ve actually used the rest more helping others get back on the road than I have myself. Chain tool while I’ve only had to use twice on a ride got me home from half way round a 20 mile circular so I always try to fit one in.

I’ve got a friend who rides loads more than me and for the last 20 years carried absolutely nothing not even a drink for a 2 hour ride. A recent stranding and 5 mile walk in the rain has changed his thoughts on this.

I would really like to do some touring and guess if I did I would augment the usualkit with some extra spares like cables etc.

Happens i have it out today as i had to replace a cleat in work (had a spare in my desk). Only thing missing is the tie wraps the live in the handle bar. As above I've used it more for other people than myself but i still carry it.

Pretty similar to the above.

I am not a fan of saddle bags that hook over the seat rail as they seem to wobble for me.

I have a hard plastic one that screws onto the rails high up and allows space for a rear light.

Tubes (1 in seatbag, 1 in jersey)
Patches
A couple of cable ties.
Tyre patch
Multitool
Gloves
Tiny old Nokia
A few quid and a fiver in case i bonk.
Small pump behind bottle cage.
A banana and a chewy bar.
A Garmin edge 20, small and saves getting lost.
Bottle of squash, unless it's over 50 miles then a small bottle with coke.. the drink not the powder

In the car....
Tubeless tool box - sealant, tubes, syringe, valves etc
Birzman tool box - full ‘studio’ mobile workshop
Large Ikea carrier of weather gear, gloves, etc
Two made-up biking backpacks
Two pairs of spare cycling shoes - usually Five Tens
Track pump with new, fabulous Truflo pump head

In the backpacks...
Thin windproof or waterproof - usually ION or Rab - always
Neck tube - which doubles as Covid face mask
Tyre levers x2
Topeak Rocket micro pump
Topeak suspension pump
Multi-tool, extra 8mm Allen key, two spare chain connector links
Patch kit including alloy valve key
Two extra bolts - one for brake calipers and one for cleats - this can be life saving
Antiseptic wipes, plasters, pack of 200mg Iboprufen tablets - often used for friends
Two packs of Mountain Berry Blocs by Clif - all other flavours are officially disgusting
Ten pound or twenty pound note
Small Camelbak or viscous polymer back protector depending on what we are doing
Very small LED red rear light - important for low light forest in winter as well as benighted trips on road

From others’ posts - nitrile gloves - good call, will throw some in. Section of inner tube - nice.
Thinking about carrying Stans Darts, but my...are they expensive....

pump, phone, car keys in a small backpack.

as said, just bought a multi-tool but it's soooo bloody heavy
