What size hybrid?

Having looked around for a decent hybrid for commuting on I have decided to get a Boardman Hybrid Pro, decent reviews and excellent kit for the money. My only problem is what size! Having only ever ridden MTB's the different sizing for hybrid/road frames is slighty confusing to me. My MTB is a medium Cotic Soul which is a 17.5 inch frame, I would have thought I would have needed a Medium Hybrid too but someone has cast doubt on this. I am 5'8'' on a good day and the Boardman frames are quoted as being 45cm for a small and 49cm for a medium (seat tube). Top tube lengths are 56.5cm and 59cm (effective). My inside leg is 28-29inches if I did it right. Not sure but a medium looks right?

Advice greatfully accepted.

Trevor.

I'd say, for your height, a 19/20" frame would be better. Hybrids tend to be larger as they are used more on the road and larger frames are more comfortable on the road. Don't forget that hybrids are only meant to be used on stuff like fireroads and canal tow-paths, so they don't need to be as small as your mountain bike.

I'm 5'10" and I've ridden 21" frame hybrids and have found them comfortable.

Your best bet is to test ride a few (any good shop will be willing to do this).
