what should one do with an owned-from-new K2 Proflex?

Re:

little update. The front unit got lost in the post to USA. Now wondering whether to bother replacing unit at all (want to simplify my life!), and to put a RIGID front fork just for fun, getting shot of the parallelogram fork.

Does that sound a weird idea, and if not, what might suit? :?:

Re:

That's a shame, did you insure your post? I'd always fancied running a smart shock front and rear on my RTS.

I'd be tempted to fit a standard suspension fork on there rather than a rigid one though, but if you are wanting to go down the rigid route, I've got a nice set of nuke proof carbon forks that take V or disc brakes if you decide to go gown that route.

well, its 20 quid max plus the post cost back from Royal Mail....versus 50 dollars rebate and a spring swap.
I suspect that a smartshock unit might have not looked too good on an xray machine, despite me taking the PP3 out.

Need to go and research which bikes run rigid front and a spongy rear. and look up nukeproofs... thanks.

Re:

ok, I'm at a low point with the 4000 and not getting anywhere fast.

My front damper unit got lost in the post so I now have a partially complete Smartfork in excellent nick, but want to get this up and running cheaply.

What other options could I use for the front that are light and bulletproof?

Re:

you definitely can make a great cross country rig out of that. I converted my 857 to 1x10 modern deore XT and replaced the shocks with Risses..and its awesome. super light, handles like a go-cart..super rigid front end / steering.

you also could put a57 rear end on that..proflex team bikes were like that in 1998..

Thanks all
Henry - are the Risses are real improvement on the front? Did you just got for the basic Genesis - I see 198 dollars or so - or one of the higher ones?
