What rims for Suntour XC Pro Hubs?

Hi,

I've finally managed to acquire the right hubs for a build I am working on. The next question is what rims should I use?

There doesn't seem to be as bigger market for rims as there is for other components on this site, and I would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction, I can't be the 1st person to come up against this.

All pointers appreciated

Mavic MA40 would be nice rim. Or Campy Atec if you want to keep period correct. If not then Mavic 717XC

It just depends what you like and want it to be.

Good retro rims are Mavic 231's or Araya 395's in my opinion from use. I would place the Araya as the better.
Campag rims are nice but I found them 'soft'... just vague memories
Ritchey did rims etc...

If you're going modern then the Mavic XC717 seem to be excellent rims, far better than the Mavic 231 in my opinion (I wasn't a fan of Mavic's back then )

There usually isn't a market as they tend to come built up and there is something about using used rims I think.

think I will get some xc717s. I already have a set of the disc ones and they are excellent.

Why not go for X317 if you are going modernish, they are half the price of X717 and only about 20g per rim heavier. They look more old school too.
