What Raleigh bike is it

Hi Everyone,
I have another bike for you to look at. A friend was given this bike a couple of years ago and his intention was to do it up and ride it. The problem was he does not know how to set it up or how to fix any problems that the bike may have. So it sat in his garage for the next few years. He was just about to take it to the skip when he asked if I wanted it, to which i said yes. The problem I have is that it seems a shame to rip it apart for other bikes I have. It seems to be quite a light bike and the wheels look like they have little use. I have a good Idea on how I would like the bike to look.IE, White frame, Weimann centre pull brakes, red handle bar tape, red vittoria tyres and maybe red outercable for brakes. the main thing I would like to know is what raleigh is it as I have no idea. I think the frame itself is 1980's going by the compagnolo 980 cambio front/rear derailuers. I have posted some pictures of the frame.
Yours John

Nearest thing I could think of was a Road Ace or a Quadra but not them............doesn't look "Raleigh ish" to me :)

Just a bit later than my era with the position of the braze on's and the colour. Might have had a respray ?

Good luck

Shaun

Think you're right about the respray Shaun. I recall those style of stickers being in the LBS.

Is that a bit of overspray on the drop out adjusters?

Looks to be a reasonable quality frame though.

I have posted some more pictures. I have noticed the shape of the front fork and everything on the bike seems to be Miche or campagnolo.

I have taken a photo of the forks and will put it on. I noticed that as well and must admit i have not come across any forks the same shape.

Erm yeah, it's not a good thing I think they've had a head on crash to be made that shape.

In honesty the bike looks reasonable something 531'ish or something similar although at the lower end. It could build into a nice bike but won't be anything to write home about.

Check to see if the dropouts have anything written on them.

Do you think so I would of thought if that was the case it would show up on the chrome. I have had a good look and I can't see any bending of the frame or stretching or cracking of the forks. Thanks for the info.
