What Modern Disc Brakes?

Ok,

My Supreme DH has Avid Elixer 5's with 203 rotors.

I am building a new bike, an NS frame, and am thinking of putting the Elixer 5's on the NS with 160 rotors.

So any recommendations on a decent set of brakes for a 2010 Supreme DH?

Was thinking of Avid Code 2010, or maybe Avid Elixer CR, or Saint?

Try a few different demo bikes from different shops and try to get a large a range of models.Try them that way,or borrow mates and try that way
To be honest its all down to how they feel to you.I like the modulation of hopes, others may prefer the on or off feel of say avids :?

Very pleased with my Hope Tech X2. Easy to fit, easy to bleed, easy to shorten cable with lots of tutorial videos on their website.

Me too :D
though ive a bit of squealing from the rear only, well its more a gentle squeak that a squeal and it just when i apply a little to the rear. When i pull harder it disappears so thats ok
Probably because mine is mounted to an adaptor rather than directly to the frame :?

Anything except Hayes, i was in my LBS yesterday and the mechanic was showing me a major flaw on the reservoir. To change/top up/or bleed the brake there is a rubber bung on the res at the bottom!! The major problem is when the brakes get hot the fluid expands and blows the bung out along with all the fluid!!!!! Who ever thought of that idea should have the brakes inserted somewhere!!

One of my LBS (Wellington Trek in Sunningdale) says that they have more Avid Juicy and Elixir to repair than all other makes put together.

juicy's are real bad. hope are pretty but lack power. hayes have bundles of power but are heavy and as mentioned have the stoopid 'butt plug' that always falls out. formular are amazin but expensive. clarks are the best budget brakes. maguras are a bit fragile but light, again good power.
