Not interested in buying it, I just wondered if anyone knew what it was? The join between the carbon and the steel looks as though the carbon tube is wrapped around the steel tubes?

Aye, it looks like a WCF to me, though earlier than either of ours as it has a rear canti hanger. I can be sure, but I seem to remember seeing a trek that was identical to my DBR in the past, I don't know if they dabbled in the crazy world of welded carbon frames too?

cable guides are off and the stea tube isnt bulged on the trek

that's a WCF that's been stripped of paint and had the lugs repainted

Yeah, I just checked the frame number on my WCF 6.1 and it's the same as the ebay listing.
