Actually I have something a little more relevant...unfortunately. I was just swapping the XT thumbies on my Brodie for a pair of Suntour XCD ones this afternoon - the last piece of the puzzle to complete the full XCD groupset. As I was tightening the LH shifter clamp I felt that little 'clunk' as the bolt threaded the clamp and started to spin :cry:

Ouch.

Ironic that it happened with the Suntour set. The XT thumbies are famous for that.

Yep the curse of the XT's. Done that to many a thumb shifter. There's a lot to be said for the nut and bolt clamp on the Deore ones

My freehub. Wondered why my cassette was wobbly and changing gears felt like stirring a bag of spanners. Only discovered it whilst doing a post-ride strip and clean. Looks like a few spokes were chewed at some point too.
