Yes.. The more expnsive bikes had that crazy stelth bomber style grey matt paint on the main tubes. Even when you cleaned them they looked dirty as dirt keyed to the piant LOL.

Was it called zolatone? I'm sure my brother had one. He oiled the chain with GT85 and it actually started to disolve the paint! The bike rode well though.

That scan takes me back to when I was a spottie little kid looking at Marin's I could not afford in 'On your Bike' in Birmingham.

Hi there, i will never know, phoned and it had already been sold. Could have been a Team, was £20ono been left in the garden for a number of years!!

Very interesting scan there from Retrobikeguy. Amazing what people have without realising it, isn't it? If it was a Team, even if the bike was rusted solid, the titanium bar is worth the £20! And a five-arm XTR crankset might be just about worth salvaging.

I haven't seen tube specs for a bike of that vintage before, but they certainly explain why frames were heavier in those days.
