Just got this delivered this morning, bought it off ebay for £35 with no idea what it was i just wanted a elevated chainstay project.
So is there any elevated chainstay gurus out there who can identify it :)
I've been doing a bit of sleuthing myself while waiting for it to arrive and so far i've found a one called a Mammoth RC201 which looks similar but has internal cable routing and a picture of another bike which looks very much like this one, same top mounted cable routing and seatstay cable guides. What intrigues me is they both have that unusual dropouts and chainstay, very mammoth like.
So far i've worked out it takes a 1" 1/4 fork which is a bummer because i don't have one and the serial number is P92030114 could that mean March 1992 frame number 114 and also it looks like it used to be yellow at one point.
Any info is welcome coz i've no idea what it is i just love elevated chainstay bikes
Is the Chainset worth more than the frame or the other way round

British Eagle Boss

Not necessarily a bad thing, these frames were made for a few other brands world wide and came with XTR, XT, DX and 200GS!

Nice one legrandefromage it looks like British Eagle just pinched the design off Mammoth then lol would be interesting to know which other brands used it. One thing about it is its pretty light even with the bb and chainset.
Gonna have some fun building and respraying this i'm thinking bright 90's fluorescent just need some forks now  anyone got any 1" 1/4 forks lying around.

I've got some 1" 1/4 forks lying around and a headset, unfortunately they're in my British Eagle BOSS frame, also in the naked Aluminium colour of let's strip this and make it not look like a BOSS.

Might have to get it off the rusty nails that are hanging it up and do something with it.

So bright colours like it's 1992!

Top choice of components, I mean frame from one of out better bike shops back in the day. Also sold in Littlewoods catalogues, but I don't know what years and probably for more.

The yellow was nothing like in that picture, it was good proper British Eagle bright yellow

Re:

Vaguely remember someone local to me bitd having one in a very bright orange/red colour. I thought they looked great and with the high end components were a great price for the bike.

Slap a reducer headset in there and give yourself more fork choice, you may even find a modern standard headset might fit, found that with an alpine stars I had which i think was 1 1/4 too.

If I had the frame I'd go luminous, possibly turquoise and slap on black parts, probably modern to match the v brakes I'd go with (canti brakes are a faff and never quite as good as v brakes). As the bike is getting sprayed, remove the canti mount on the seat stay to clean up the look.

As I said, if it were me :)
