I'm not sure if i like the stock color, and since it was repaired by Chris Igelheart (so i view the repair as legit considering he probably welded it when it was made. Advantage of living in Massachusetts) I've been looking around at old Fat's and i want to stay w/ a color that they used. I have a lot of black retro parts like control tech stem, ringle stem control tech bar, ringle hubs laced to mavic sunset rims, black real levers, and red caramba cranks also xrays w/white mud shark grips and a slew of judys which i will paint to match. let me know what your recommendations are.

White with a black rear end and black forks, one of the cleanest colour schemes they did and probably the easiest paintjobs to replicate without having to worry about RAL codes and 'candy over-spraying' etc. Would also go a treat with the black stuff

White and black at least have the advantage of being standard colours. The problem with other colours is that all the British enamellers use an Italian colour palette that's completely different to the relatively wacky kind of colours that Fat Chance and other US manufacturers use. I tried to see how you could replicate the Klein team fade with a british enameller, but you couldn't get anywhere near it. The Italian colours are far more rich and sumptuous.

Its funny how we might think nothing of seeing the US as the focus of the cycle world, but actually most of the cycling industry sees Italy as the inspiration.

Yeah, do a Fatlanta replica 8)

yeh, I'll even sell you the original decals ;)

Fatlanta's look cool but this a Somerville bike and i kind of want to keep it lookin like one. Does any one have a pic of the black white fade? I'm having one of what appears to be 1000's of the massachusetts custom builders paint it Hottubes? he's known for his paint not his bikes, so i'm not affraid to go a little nuts here.
