What chain for my XC Pro build project?

I'm working on a project that will include a Suntour XC Pro (7sp) groupo and am a bit unsure of what chain I should use. I have a bunch of NOS HG90 chains but IIRC Shimano chains don't go too nicely on a Suntour cassette. So...

What should I look for? Sachs Sedisport? Connex Wipperman? Something else?

After a few weeks of searching I still haven't found a NOS chain even vaguely suitable for a Suntour 7 speed drive train.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah same here... I tried a Shimano chain on my 7-speed Suntour and it didn't really shift very well.

I was actually thinking of trying one of those newer KMC chains, they have really nice silver ones... but dunno how they shift. There is some NOS Suntour APII chains on E-bay but they're quite expensive.

Will keep an eye on this thread....

I wouldn't go for the suntour chain as they were gash, didn't shift well and exploded at a moments notice. We invariably swapped the suntour chains for sachs/sedis when we sold suntour bikes, so any sachs/sram 7 or 8 speed will work well.

Just taken a HG silver/black (forget the number but from BiTD) my XC Comp MD setup, 7spd APII PowerFlow thing at the back and it had loverly shifting...
Sedis would have been the obvious BiTD chain.

KMC will be fine probably, the X8 or similar.

If it's earlier than that the cassette will be different and shifting will be different of course

That's not an Accushift Plus chain, AP chains are profiled like you would probably expect (a bit like HG chains)

I'm trying hard to do a 100% period correct build, right down to the cables so I don't really want to go with a modern shitter of a chain.

Any ideas where I might find a NOS Sedis chain?
