what carlton is this?

a 1958 frame, from the frame number, nervex lugs with wraparound seat stays (albeit flat, rather than round, if you see what i mean).

all the finishing kit is unoriginal, as is the fork (the original died in a crash), and it's had a respray or two in it's time. some of the brazings for pumps etc have been removed at some point too, but it was definitely a geared bike in its original setup

anyone know what bike/bikes the frame might have come from originally?

Always difficult getting the model sorted prior to 1959 I find.

With so much removed or respray its hard to tell. Id need to have a look around first before I might hazard a guess.

It does look good though, even if its a ss or fixie.

I can't help with the i.d., but that's a lovely looking frame - any chance of some more photos? You're in Macc aren't you alecstilleyedye? Do you give your ss bikes a go on the hills or keep them for the flat bits?

definitely for the flat plains of cheshire.

i do use the carlton to do errand rides around macc though, and can cope with the immediately local hills…
