What Bike is This? - Max Glaskin & Jeremy Torr book - 1988

Love that image!

Bike looks amazing and love the graphics and colour on the frame.

Frame looks fillet brazed looking at the joints on the head tube. Looks like a custom frame or reminds me of an Overbury's/Rocky Mountain esq frame with the sloping top tube and higher placed seat stays. Plus look at the outer cable from the rear mech, the cable stop on the frame seems to be located on the inside/top of the chainstay... hmmm?!*

The top tube graphics reminds me of Rock Lobster (and Dean, but I doubt it's Ti being 1980's).
Obviously it's pre-Crud Catcher era, or we'd be able to make out the downtube decal instead of it being covered in crud 😅

Looks like an early Overbury's Pioneer to me 1985-7. 🤔

Very high BB and looks like the seatstays land above the top tube.
One of the few bikes to use that flat-topped cast Cinelli fork crown and the elegant curved and tapered road blades.
All cables on the downtube, but gears running over the top of the BB shell.
No lugs or reinforcements on the plain head tube.
Rollercam + Canti or all Rollercam was an option....along with the typical eclectic mix of parts.
Also, pump mounted behind the seat tube.
It's set up for British braking, not US/Continental, so presumably a UK rider, but I don't recognise him.

Sorry about the grainy pics...15yr old scans of almost 40yr old prints:rolleyes:

All the best,

Cheers @danson67 i think we have a winner.
Well spotted that the braking is set up British style, I didn’t notice that.
I guess with both authors of the book being British it is highly likely this photo was taken in the UK.
It is certainly a very elegant bike with those tapered forks and sloping top tube. Very cool.
