What a great site

My old school friend pointed me in the direction of this site and I have spent the last week drooling over the trick. It has been like taking a step back to my teenage years, when I spent the majority of my time between the shed and stuffing my head in Mountain Bike Action and MBUK trying to work out how the hell I was going to clean my dad's car enough times to finance my 'upgrade projects' on my Orange Clockwork.

I became absorbed in a world of John Tomac, Thomas Frischnet, Missy Giove, Tioga Disc Drives, Oakleys, USE seatposts, Ringle, Answer and Manitou but about the only thing I could afford was a nice USE seatpost -420mm of course - and a Flite titanium.

Then there was the old Malvern Hills Classic where I came out of the bombhole and took all the rake out of my forks. A trip to the Orange team tent sorted that out. I was in heaven. I remember my first ride on a Klein Attitude at the same event, a quick ride round the camping field was enough to tell me it was the schnizzle.

After spending my Saturdays putting shoes on old people's feet and teenagers that really should be able to tie their own shoe laces, I eventually saved enough to by a first gen Super V. Polished ali, carbon swingarm, XT. I loved that bike. My love affair continued through uni and I wound up with a San Andreas with really cheap (but red) tires that kept popping off the rim everytime I cornered hard.

Well then life kind of took over and bikes took a back seat, but I must say that this site has given me the inspiration to take on a project build. Getting that bike I always wanted is going to be a journey of reminiscing and love. I've managed to convince the girlfriend that I will have to build it in the lounge and that the communal shed is no place for it to reside. The trouble is, I've been forbidden from having two bikes. I guess the Rush Carbon is going to have to go.

Cheers for bringing it all back. Peace and love. Chicken x

Welcome, nice story and oh so similar to many of our own.

What are you planning on getting?

There lies the rub.

I always wanted a Yeti, just like the one Missy Giove used to ride. I can remember that bike. Cook Bros cranks, Ringle stem, HED wheels.

However, maybe it would be nice to go for something classic. Fat Chance, Merlin, DeKerf, Mountain Goat Whiskey Town Racer....

I'm a casual rider these days so all would suffice. Its just so damn hard to make a decision. A Mountain Goat would be cool, as would a Yeti, as would a Merlin. Let's face it they all look the nuts. Mountain Goat or Yeti I reckon. Actually, I don't really know what I want. I think it has to be American. They made just the coolest bikes.

Hello Chicken, good cluck with convincing your hen to let you open your coop doors to more bikes!

One bike is never enough.
