Went to see a $60 Diamondback Topanga

I popped by this fellows place today and was interested in the bike for parts. Naturally (and much less likely to be) it was not in my size (21", not 24"+ needed) but the wheels were of interest for winter use. The frame could later be sold to recoup half the total money spent. The rims weren't double wall, unfortunately. If it were my size I would have bought it as it appeared in very fine shape. For $60 one could do worse, and old cromo mountain bikes are so versatile.

I have a soft spot for all the pre-97 Diamond Backs. For $60 that is a steal.

I have an Apex frame needing paint (reluctant to) but don't know the seatpost diameter size. Do you have an Apex?

I wanna say (depending on the year) an Apex should be a 27.0 or 27.2 - I'll see if I can get to yanking the post on mine and verifying that for ya this weekend.

Ok, thank you... that info would be helpful. I think I have a 1990 basing it off the stamping on the fork steerer tube. Attached are photos of the actual frame. *BUT, I recall now it is not an Apex but Ascent. It doesn't have the sloping top tube so I can't tell you if it is the EX model or not. The paint is not original and from the factory it was like the one in the other photobucket photo.
