went to cromer today and on the beach i found a weird rock

turned out to be a piece of old smelting slag when i cracked it open i though ow shiney pyrite but having looked very closely its not and its not copper (no green) either any idea's? looks like gold but im never that lucky and its really bloody heavy for a small piece

I picked up a rock abroad like I usually do and bring home, the rock is from an area mined for iron ore, but in the tailings was a rock containing sparkly things I think are graphite, but it remains an enigma on my shelf as decoration and memory.

i thought pyrite but defo not pyrite got loads of that that i found on the beaches as a kid gonna pop into a mates tomorrow he'll know what it is and il get picks up could be copper with high lead content mixed in from the smelting hence the lack of green and more gold coloured content and its tough yet soft so cant be pyrite as thats quite brittle when smelted

anyway will find out tomorrow and get pics

Also silverclaws your shiney rock could be mica check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mica i got some really cool black mica from greenland last year unlike any ive ever seen really nice stuff but really fragile as well (but its only fragile cos of type)

we went to Cromer Sunday evening and drove straight back out again. Sheringham was far more accommodating food wise (all you can eat Indian buffet).

3 Cobras and an Irish coffe, I was anybodys.

No interesting rocks though...

Geology always interested me, still does, but to do it as a career, I was too thick.

But I have always collected rocks for the places I go.

But my rock, mica I have considered also graphite but it's an odd rock found when iron ore was being mined, in a place called Pershyttan in Sweden.
