Weight of 531 forks compared to steel

i did have a hevier rear wheel and coupled with my arse back riding style, on twisty descents i found the steering
get too light.even with steel forks. i think that is one of the issues putting me off carbon forks.but if a cheap
'columbus minimal cropped up' im sure id give it a whirl.
