Here’s another little project I’ve got on. A bunch if mates have an annual beery bikey camping weekend with the theme leaning towards retro steel bikes. A kind of beer-oica.
This came about due to budget constraints in the early days but also the love of a great steel bike. Our preferred era is 80s and 90s due to outrageous paint jobs and modern compatibility, this has led me to paint a few.
Cue this Peugeot Optimum project for a mate. Found an ideal bike with full RX100 Groupset and tatty paintwork and set to work.
Had it sandblasted and we discussed the possibility of internal top tube routing for the brake cable, just because.

and I figured I’d give it a go, turned out great!
We’ve got a pretty strong paint job in mind, starting with some gold as a base coat, it needs to be finished for the 22nd so I’ll keep the updates coming.

Nice going, but for me that brake cable guide at the front would be on the wrong side as I ride right hand lever = back brake

So here’s an update, the painting is all done with some gold flake and reproduction 531 decals. Slack.CC being our unofficial club for those of us who refuse to take it all too seriously.
