Waterproof jacket recommendations?

Need a new one. My RaceFace one has lost its waterproofness after a few years of washing and is getting knackered anyway. Need something around waist length and very waterproof as I ride to work in the rain every day and could do to keep my top half dry at least.

Any recommendations?

Bergaus Paclite Gore Tex can be had for under a ton if you shop around. I swear by them. With winter on the horizon you may want something a little heavier, but I use the inner out of one of my heavier setups and the Paclite saves so much weight and stows nice and small.

If I am heading into the woods I generally throw on an old NF ski boarding jacket, it can take the scrapes and snags and has pit vents and a nice tight skirt for when it gets muddy!

I've had a Gore one for about 7 years and it's perfect. Goretex stays dry, nice cut, good pockets, overglove mittens and stows into the rear pocket. I just broke the drawcord at the neck last week but apart from that it's not put a foot wrong (and that was my fault).

Think it was around £100 at the time.

try tumble drying your old one first. will re-activate the dwr.

Think a lot of the waterproof loss on mine is due to wearing a bag over it to be honest. It is looking a little tired and the front zip isn't far off failure as well.

Thanks for the advice guys. Will look what I can get when money frees up come pay day.

I'm a big fan of eVent fabric. Breathes better than Gor-Tex Paclite, and is just as waterproof. Showers Pass makes some good eVent jackets.

Fabric softener acts as a water proofing agent too btw. Dont ask how on earth I know that but I do.

Do you wash the top in it - or wipe it on?
Any brand work better than t'others?

I have an old Pace top that isn't that waterproof anymore - anyone used
Grangers 30deg Proofer for soft and hard shell fabrics - Maximises performance - Extended durability - Lasts up to 10 washes - Treats up to 4 pieces of kit - All waterproof apparel should be tumble dried after washing to maximise water repellency.
Is it any good?
