Waterproof backpack - any advice?

Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a waterproof backpack.
Messenger bag style backpacks are in fashion these days, but in my experience they are not very durable, as they tend to crack along the seams, as they get folded.

Do you have any experience of a durable waterproof backpack?
Not necessarily messenger bag style.
The only requirement is that is not too big. I came across nice waterproof hiking backpacks, but they are huge. Definitely not suitable for cycling.

Thanks!

My ortleib messenger bag has been very durable, only damage has been a plastic clip which they replaced free of charge. Huge carrying capacity, comfortable and totally waterproof. Would recommend.

Hi, i have been using dry bag rucksacks for many years, on my motorbikes, mountain bikes and just for walking. Though most just have shoulder straps so walking with heavy loads is not great over long distance but riding is perfect.

There is a huge range of bags now, personally and after working in the outdoor industry, i wouldnt spend money on big brands eg ortleib etc. as you can get the same bag, sometimes with better features for a lot less. Many have numerous sizes in the range so even if the one your looking at is too big, there will usually be smaller ones.

I bought a couple of Exped ones well over 10yrs ago, and they are still in use, both on my motorbike and mountain bike. You can see it in some of my pics on the 'Todays Ride' thread, its the orange one and the only bag i use really. They are thinner material, not the tarpaulin like thick material which people assume is better, but as you know is not the most flexible. The bags i have can be screwed up and packed away really small if you really wanted.

Anyway, my advice would be to google 'dry bag rucksacks' and have a look through, there are plenty to choose from and quite a few comparisons too. Personally again, i would look to be spending no more than £30 on one, and that would have to be something special, its the sort of thing you find in sales for around £10 really.

And mine is 25l which is big enough for waterproofs etc but if its empty you can roll it down more and its half the size.

Thanks! Great advice.
Are you talking about something like this?

That sort of style yes, but that only has webbing for shoulder straps, personally i would look for something with more padding in the shoulder straps like the example below, and the chest strap is also a useful feature. Btw, the bag below was just the first one i found with better shoulder straps as an example, i would look around a bit as you there is a vast choice.

Thanks.
I hadn't even noticed the webbing shoulder straps (nor I knew it was called webbing).
That looks definitely uncomfortable.
I'll look better :)
