Wanted: 1998 Kona Ku

Re:

After the extraordinary events last year surrounding three new examples of the rare 1997 Kona Caldera turning up ….. perhaps I will be blessed with finding the probably rarer 1998 Kona Ku 8)

I can organise carriage from any country, so just name your price :D

Behold!!!

Is this a genuine 1998 Kona Ku? What do the experts have to say? Frame is 18" in blue with metallic sparkles. Columbus Altec, no chainstay bridge, 27.0 seat tube, serial # KK88***

Re:

Hello and welcome to Retrobike.

I would say that the picture is indeed of a genuine 1998 Kona Ku.

You’ve got the main points of identification listed - Serial number (which would indicate August 1998), lack of Chainstay brace. The Cable Stops and Dropouts / Gear Hanger look correct. Shame there are no Columbus and Handmade in U.S.A. Decals.

May I ask if the bike pictured is yours, and where it is now?

If you look at my thread below, you’ll have some pictures of mine to compare. My serial number is KK88044

If this blue sparkle Ku is for sale, I would still be interested - despite having found my yellow example

Best wishes.

If that's the original colour scheme then that's even cooler than cool. I've never seen an egg shell blue that wasn't a repaint.

Amazing to see another genuine 98 though. Those tubes are crazy!
