(w) 1991 GT Steel/Titan Xizang

Seriously, you really think that if someone had one they wanted to part with that they message you before putting it up on eBay and letting the entire world bid it up into the stratosphere?

You know how expensive it is to sell on eBay? You know how many times people 'win' an item and then don't bother paying? You know how many people want to sell a bike they have owned and loved for years to someone else who will love it and cherish it and build it up and love it themselves? You know how much the OP is willing to pay? You know how much it would go for on eBay?

Rod I'd be happy to answer your questions. 1) Having done over a thousand listings on eBay in 7 years...yes I know how expensive it can be to sell on eBay but it's a small cost for a captive audience and when I post links to my auctions in the eBay thread on retrobike it helps out John and his website, retrobike. 2) I have only been stiffed on an eBay auction once and that's with selling 85% of my items overseas. The one time was a communication issue between the bidder/buyer who wanted the item but couldn't follow the auction details that were clearly printed in English. 3) Yes, after being in bike retail for 12 years and having sold well over 500 bikes and frames since on my own I do understand that people have attachments to their bikes. I've sold many a cherry Zaskar, Zaskar LE, Xizang, Lightning, Edge Ti. I too have experienced "Release Remorse" more than once when having a bike in possession and then sending it to someone that I hope will enjoy and take care of it. 4) Having had more than 100 GT Ti's pass through my hands over the years, yes, I think I have a reasonable idea what the OP is willing to pay and I think I know how high it would get on eBay also and I think the final eBay price would likely be two to two and a half times high that what the OP feels he is willing to pay especially if talking period correct build like the frame is currently built. JMTCW.

All reasonable and well made points, but then this?:

eBay does occasionally shock as you know, but it also disappoints (from a seller's perspective) and things don't sell as planned, I'm sure you have experienced this, therefore you still don't know A) what the OP would be willing to pay, and B) what the price would reach in an open action on eBay. So, it would be feasible, in my wholly humble opinion, for someone to see the OP's wanted ad, think to himself 'hmmmm, I have one of those and I would be happy to sell', contact the OP and ask him to make an offer only to be surprised at the (high) amount the OP offers (as he has taken into account the rarity, value to him etc already) and bite his hand off. This has happened to me before.

Anything's possible, hence my asking for first chance by the owner of the one pictured above if he shoudl ever decide to sell.

No, sorry. I had done it long before this one was posted up. FMJ that owns the one pictured here was pm'ing me for info on it long before he even posted pics of it. I told him at that time to contact me if he ever decided to part with it....and this after all a public forum.
