Are you certain it has to be squashed

These guys can fix anything and supply 2nd hand parts (assuming the bodywork's not too shot) http://www.braydonmotors.co.uk/ Hackney. My 1988 240 estate is still going strong thanks to them :D Albeit I've donated it to a family member on Arran now

There's a similar outfit near Swindon I think - can't remember the name though.

I can't claim to know a lot about Volvos (did have a 740 turbo briefly though - for a Le Mans trip :) ), but I can't see how fitting a new ECU could be more than about 10 minutes work. & surely it can't be that hard to find a used one! Eg: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0109786722 - might have a suitable one...

it has also got a problem with the injectors as well...im spending way too much on it at the mo so i think it is time to say goodbye...pity as there is no rust anywhere..oh and the fuel pump keeps stopping too because of a short somewhere........l.

As LGF said, ECUs are easily replaced (assuming you can source a replacement) - which shouldn't be that difficult either on ebay, or from Salvo or one of the other national breakers.

Failing that, there's a company that refurbs many ECUs (it's mainly things like dry joints and PCB circuit issues that tends to make them fail.

if it were the only prob i would but the whole car is becoming like the parrot.....it does not go quietly into the night ...it just keeps going wrongand costing me a packet....head gasket was the biggie so far...then the brakes...then the road tax...i got nowt left...snuffle

Time to get a new volvo puppy from the pound to love and cherish. :D

A Volvo's not just for Christmas you know

the only saving grace is i get to have me a motorbike next summer to replace her....
