The fork is now done, so I cleaned up the frame and then scraped off the old stickers (after measuring and photographing them).



Then gave it a sand and a coat of filler primer.



Couple of rounds of sanding/filling and then it will be ready for a top coat.
The fork is painted and lacquered now. New stickers on order too.

No, I build scientific instruments - some spraying involved in that and we also prepare samples with various specialised coatings which need the booth/gun etc.

I trained and worked as a modelmaker for many years so have plenty of spraying experience from those days. Not so many jazzy colours in the lab now!

Yes that's exactly the finish level Viscount went for! The frame is true and sound but not refined when you get close up. I did consider smoothing off some of it but "it's all part of it's character" ..or something

Next little detail, I bought a SR Laprade post for this as the old one was scratched and horrible. Sadly it was just slightly too snug.



Now solved thanks to the excellent chaps in the machine shop at work who agreed to give it a .2mm skim.

The finished post, looking beautifully shiny. A new pair of bearings also arrived for the BB



The frame has had a first coat of colour and is looking much more respectable.

I'll ask our machine shop manager what they usually use this setup for, I think it is a quick change post with some very fine adjustment options but not sure.

The frame paint and lacquer is now done, and I'll leave it to harden up for a few weeks before applying any decals. Should give me time to finish cleaning up components and solving my wheel (or lack thereof) problem!



Also started cleaning up these excellent old short guards that @sunympholepsy sorted out for me. A bit of a wire brush and rub down and they should look the part.

Excellent! My Viscount actually had shorty guards like those on it when I got it!
