Never seen one up close, does anyone have an idea how these ride?

My guess: Even worse than they look

Interested to see how it was implemented. Looks OK to me, quite minimalist.

+1

If it's not broke, don't fix it.
Chain drive is up to 98% efficient, its derailler gears that are the problem!

I am not thinking it would be efficient, just interesting to know about it. I often waste time thinking up improvements on the wheel.

Shaft drive keeps bouncing in and out of my psyche as an interesting way to waste time making an alternative drive train.

i dont know much about motorbikes, but are they not shaft driven? and not chain anymore

i know bugger all about them,so will probably be shot down in flame,s

There are a lot of shaft drive motorbikes.

Not taken over from chains though.

My fantasies involve over size worm drives and carbon shafts.
