I'm a toe walker .......I have poorly ankles and it's easier to walk this way...helps for sneaking up on victims too...

Hang on a cotton picking minute. Surely the human foot is adapted for walking rather than running. We don't spend all day running around, do we? So the natural gaite is to heel strick first; unless you are a toe walker? (which do exist)

No running, the human race survived by being able to run away from predators and some believe by being able to chase food over long distances. Evolution had the better runners surviving and the less so not. If anyone is interested the books, Born to Run covers barefoot running and Why we Run covers the anthropological doodhah's. Born to run is quite an interesting book in itself even for non runners.

Evolution is a slow process, either from evolving OUT of something, or INTO something... so comparatively speaking, we as a race are a bit of a freak, as it was only a matter of 100,000 years or so ago that we were in our sort of "pre-human" evolutionary state, so to speak.

However it is my limited understanding that even then, we still lived as family or social units, so would likely have had defined roles, such as the those that hunted, those that crafted etc.... so its a bit more clouded than for experts to simply say, the runners would have survived and the slow coaches wouldnt

I'm all for natural solutions however

I think they are cool and yeah added protection to feet that would normally prefer to be barefoot. Perhaps we may understand traditional shoe shape developed because it was easier and there cheaper to manufacture.

But feet shapes are changing look at the shape of a shoe and then look at your feet, do the shapes match at the toe area, traditional shoes scrunch up my toes if fitted to foot size, only going oversize makes things more comfortable but then oversize has it's problems.

But we have toes for a reason, they are part of our gait used to traverse uneven ground, so why should they be boxed away in traditional shoes.

^ I still wear my original high leg combats issued to me in '89 most of the time, now fitted with zipits as they were bitd ( I seek them on ebay), they are now ready to be resoled as the heel has gone through and the sole is cracking across, so have been quoted £45 to resole with vibram. Which I am wary about as I know vibram don't get on well with wet rocks as my Brashers tell me.

Not quite the same as that, but I've got a couple of pairs of shoes with Vibram soles.

And a pair of boots (UGG, but not the ones you normally see) for my wife that have Vibram soles, too.

well after wearing them since 5 this evening i can happily say they fit just fine and are very comfy.all i have to do now is do the longevity test
