Vegetarians and Vegans - Recipies

Are you new to this game?

If so, the easiest way to think of it is, How many warm and cold blooded animals are eaten by your average squeamish westerner can you list? Not many!

Now,how many vegetables ,nuts, fruits, pulses and grains can you list? Frickin loads!! Meat and fish on the whole are very bland and need lots of cooking and seasoning. The list of things above not only can mostly be eaten raw but have great and mostly unique flavours. There are a million and one combinations to go at. Have a play around with stuff! :D

Also treat yourself to a nice cook book. Every vegies should have the Cranks Recipe book at least, It's only about a fiver and has been in print for about 40 years. My recomendation would be The essential vegetarian cook book, published by Murdock books. Its only about 13 quid!!

Al. :D

ps before anyone else gets in,weirdo freak! I love eating animals cos they taste nice you puff!! I'd eat anything me! Ya nob 'ead.

I used to be a vegetarian, and love cooking.
Bombay potatoes?

1 tin tomatoes
2-3tbsp curry powder
1 tin tomatoes
1 pt veg stock
2 onions
1/2 dozen potatoes
Spinach, broccoli, peas, whatever you like.
Lemon juice
1 tbsp mango chutney.

Fry the onions, add the curry powder when they're translucent.
Add everything else apart from the lemon juice
Cover & cook on a ring until the potatoes go nice and soft
Add lemon juice, a few ripped up leaves of coriander and some chopped fresh tomatoes if you feel posh.
It keeps for ages, but won't last long.

Failing that, it's always worth remembering the good old omlette, providing you don't have poor quality battery eggs. Make sure not to use too much oil and get the pan (which shouldn't be non-stick) hotter than the fires of hell and damnation before you add the lightly beaten eggs (don't whisk them). Cook underneath on the ring and finish the top under the grill, don't try to flip it over. Add whatever veg you like.

Non-vegetarians, just add meat.

Never trust a thin cook. 8)

Chips!!

Chip potato and fry til cooked, add salt and NBC to taste, eat!!

I was brought up on a heavily vegitarian diet due to my younger sister deciding to make the move at the age of 8. As such due to my Mother/Father not wanting to cook multiple dishes each meal time the whole family went " mostly veggie". However I am affraid despite being frankly awesome at cooking and making up dishes, I have absolutely no imagination when it comes to veggie food.

Hot courgette sandwich:

Fry garlic gently in butter
Slice courgette and fry in garlic butter
Add salt and pepper
Take bread, and make sandwich thereof
Eat

Hot mushroom sandwich:

As above, but replace courgette with mushroom.

Baked Beans on Toast:

Heat beans
Prepare toast
Place hot beans on toast
Eat

Tortellini ai Formaggi:

Boil tortellini
Grate cheese
Add grated cheese to drained tortellini
Eat

Meat and fish on the whole are very bland and need lots of cooking and seasoning.
You're just not using your imagination. Many animals and fish can be eaten raw, and in some cases while still alive.

I've never had a good imagination!

Although I could imagine smacking someone with a big stick for eating live animals.

Ok can we keep the offensive tone of this down a touch please :x
It is a straight forward question and I don't appreciate the baiting

Thanks to those with helpful suggestion, I will try them, anyone else?

It was a straightforward answer, with no baiting intended. A fried courgette sandwich is a favourite vegetarian snack of mine. Try it - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. My aside was in reply to al.

My parents are vegetarian, and it's a lifestyle choice I respect, but I also eat sashimi and oysters.

A chacun son goût.
