Is there a difference?

On the Manitou SX's, I've bolted up a pair of V-brakes and the bolt clamps them solid so they won't operate..

Is this a post problem or a bolt problem?

The ones in the frame are fine (although, it is a v-brake frame) and the bolts in there have a 'step' in them before the head.. different to the ones on the front..

Ermmm... help?? :?

Most V's rotate on a bush so that you can clamp them tight...cheaper ones rotate on the post itself.

If yours go tight, then you need to have the bolts looser (no prizes for that gem of advice) - so you you are well-advised to put some Loctite on the threads to stop the bolt from unwinding. Typically a new bolt already has some blue goo on them anyway.

The bolts have some blue gear on them but just by winding them off a gnats they are finger loose and I reckon they'll fall out.. seems like that shouldn't be the case..

They are Dia-Compe V's.. not cheap tat I don't think?? :?

Panic over. . . . Shimano to the rescue. . .

Stuck some M-700's (think that's what they are) on and all is well in the Voodoo World of Stopping Power. . 8)
