V-Brake & Canti Mix???

I'm planning to run a front V-Brake on my Rockhopper so I can install a Quick Release mudguard on the front. The existing guard is damn ugly and has cracked due to tyre rub.
I'll leave the existing 737 canti on the back as it has a noodle on the seat tube.
I already have the QR mudguard from a previous bike and some old 739 Vbrake levers with the adjustable wedges. If I can get reasonable braking on the rear great, otherwise I'll install a travel agent or V on the rear.
Will update once installed.

Thanks everyone for the advice, I have looked at the links and thought about my options but i am going to try some Canti levers with a 'Travel Agent Problem Solver' on the V's fitted to the front forks.

:D

Will update how I'm getting on.
