USE FORKS - the older ones!

Having a beer with an old riding buddy last night, and we got onto the topic of USE forks.. not the new nonsense, but the older forks. Neither of us could remember anything about them. I seem to remember USE pushing their forks and a Ti hardtail... that must have been 1997, but I could be horribly wrong.

I seem to remember them having a double crown-type-thing... hmm not sure. Could anyone come up with any info? were they any good etc... I might add them to the "list of stuff to try out one day."

Thanks,
Benj

A friend had one, we all thought it was really cool.

Then the crown cracked.

Can't remember much else, it was elastomers/mcu and air.

I had a pair on my Zaskar, must have been about 95. It was a toss up between them and RC35's. After a couple of mates pulled the steerer out of the crown on the Pace offering I went for the USE.

It's a long time ago, but they were elastomer (same ones that their seat posts used) colour coded yellow green or pink. The elastomers were knobbly and looked like a stack of rubber balls. They also had air damping.

Forks were all machined alloy with Ti fixings no plastic caps or bits all alloy.....very nice. (and yes; double plate crown).

They were really nice for the time, I'm glad I made the choice I did, about 50mm of temperature dependant travel.....plush!

Wish I could find a set again. 8) :?

ahhh ha! those be they!
so... rocking horse poo these days? Or something you're likely to stumble across on ebay and not have to pay vital organs to own?

I'm thinking they might be nice to try a pair out for old times sake!

these ........... ?

Almost, but mine were the earlier ones (like in the Cataloge in the gallery).

They had black anodised dropout, very long like early Marzocchi XC's and much simpler decals with the little yellow green and orange USE logo.

there are some rigids on ebay.com at the moment.

They are attached to a GT idrive frame though, so I don't reckon that's a bad price.

I've put a link in the relavent section.
