Devout Dirtbag
Road biking has always been big where I grew up and the west coast Campy distribution hub was a 30 minute ride away. So it's what everyone had, even on their mountain bikes when campy had Euclid etc.Very few bikes in the US have Campy parts. Mostly MTB based stuff here. Road bikes never caught on very much. Once upon a time Schwinn made more bicycles than everyone else combined. Trek used to build here. There are some hand made metal MTBs made.
I'm afraid the derailleur is "friction", but the shifter is indexed (duh) It's not specified because it's custom made for the desired number of speeds, and gear spacing of your particular cassette. Well probably not yours.
As far as RH, seems like a fan boy parsing words and getting stuck on semantics. The real issue is the $900 for a dang derailleur that has technology that was perfected 40+ years ago. I just don't like the business model of having another company make your items because it's just meant for yourself and to show off or have other old men buy them. Let's be honest, those derailleurs are not seeing 10,000 miles a year...
If I ever came across anyone with that monstrosity in a group ride, I'd push the pace and see if they were $900 faster...
