Dirt Disciple
Tried to upload photos to a post using IMG and URL tabs but no joy, I'm obviously doing something wrong! Could anyone explain what I need to do? many thanks.

Hi mate
There is an upload button for attaching photos but they must be under a certain size.
Most, like myself, use a hosting site like Flickr.com or google photos etc and then when all set up you can select the photo on that site and on flickr you hit the BB code tab and just copy and paste that link into your post. Then when the page loads there is the photo.
Hope this might help, though I am sure there is a thread in the Wiki tab at the top of the page here.

Or you could use one of many free image resizers available, that way the site doesnt lose the pics when the hosting site gets greedy and holds your pics hostage

Many thanks Jamie and Mark!

OK, didn't realise there was a max size for photos and that must have been the problem, thanks for explaining. I've never managed to re-size a photo successfully but neither did I realise there were free image re-sizers available. That's probably why I never managed to re-size myself. Great to know and I will investigate!!

I've been through all the image hosting sites over the years (including Photobucket!) and settled on Imgur as it seems quite reliable and relatively easy to use. Great to know that I can just use the BB code to paste it in a post but clearly I need to get on the case and re-size the photos before trying it.

Thanks again guys, really appreciate it.

I don't resize mine with Flickr as I upload as standard but when you paste the link in a thread it is only the link and the photo doesn't need resizing. If that makes sense.
I don't resize anything as it is just a link you put on this site not the actual photo.

Aha! Perfect, that totally makes sense. :) I will go ahead and give that a go now. Thanks again!!

Yep, I use the BB code for these type sites and there is a direct link I use for the blog. Both work perfect and I have never had a problem with Flickr. It is a free 1TB storage but I use it quite a bit now and still have only used less than 1%

Absolutely amazing, just uploaded 3 photos to my post using the BB code and lo and behold they actually appeared in the post rather than just a link to the photo on Imgur. You can see my post just below this one.

Yeah, it's a good setup. That's how mine works as well.
I am not great with computers but I find it pretty easy to use Flickr, just copy and paste once uploaded.
Glad it worked and now get some photos up!
