Upgrading to indexed shifting

Hi

I am thinking about upgrading my old dawes team road bike, and at the moment its a 10 speed friction shift drivetrain

I have got a 6 speed freewheel, but am wondering about putting 6 speed indexed shifters on the bike, the existing ones are band on, is it possible to get 6 speed indexed shifters for a frame with no braze ons?

Ive got front and rear mechs which will work with the indexing but stuck on the shifters - any ideas?

its the little spacers behind the levers that differ when it comes to band on and braze on. ;) .. the levers are identical ;)

right... :)..

if staying shimano (which at this stage of your game is prob best),, you'll be needing a rear mech and block thats is SiS compatible (SiS = shimano Index Shifting) what rear mech and block is on there??
