Unknown Kona Frame £50 Posted

i hvae a 94 lava dome without the eyelets, but have seen 94 lava domes with them, its the same frame as the cindy , seems to be no rhyme or reason to where and when they appear.

its the crud catcher eyelets that intrigue me

Was typing this last night but the battery ran out

It's a Kona
The crud catcher eyelets where added later, the previous owner said so.
Original owner said it was ~1994 year, but the serial code will tell you.
It was deep red with silver forks, when the previous owner got it.
I don't know if that was before or after the crud catcher was added.
There is a dent in the top tube and one of the stays.

Weight of the frame is, if it's ~6lb it's the b bottom Konas
If it's ~5lb it the middle Konas (give or take 1/2lb)

---
I can tell you the dropout are the 1997 one's as used in their pictures, the hahana that year was a deep red
(EDIT chunk of text missed here :s, that's just to lead from frame mentioned above, it's not 1997 Hahana though as they wouldn't have ovalised tubing at the bottom bracket)
the cable guides are wrong but dave should be able to show you the added ones on the down tube for the front mech and if there are any signs of the brake bridge having been removed if there was one (i.e. later years models)
This dates it later though and so the frame would be a bit lighter than I mentioned at ~5lb
----

I will add, given it was red, has downtube routing for front mech, ovalised seat tube at the bottom, silver dog collar, dropout ... originally mentioned as 1994. Sounds like the Fire Mountains 1994 (think I have one in my shed)

Serial as mentioned before will give the year of manufacture.

Thanks for all the info. From my research I still can't work it out. Anyway, just waiting on Rojo for swaps info. Watch this space

It is a Kona, I presume size 19 but can't quite tell. I don't think the rack eyes tell us anything, but the Cinder Cone/Lava Dome and Fire Mountain had that narrowing at the bottom of the seat tube in 1994 and I think 1995 also. The serial number will tie down the year if you're interested. Assuming it's a size 19 (c-t = 19" and head tube = 13cm), you can tell the Cinder Cone/Lava Dome apart from the Fire Mountain by their longer top tube - 575mm c-c, compared to c 562mm for the Fire Mountain.

Waasn't this 25 squid this morning...?

Yep, it was. Now it's £50 and I'm a lot wiser. ;) Postage on a frame usually costs me £15 so that's factored is as well as now knowing what it is and what it's actually worth.
