Uncomfortable brake levers.....modolo, campag, etc...

Anyone else find the Modolo (equipe?) brake levers uncomfortable.....they just feel too small.
Are they based on the campag design?

When I first started racing (early 80's) I always used Weinmann 500 brakes, and their levers seemed a bit longer.....or was it that my hands were smaller then?

So the conundrum is.......do I change the brakes on my Vitus (http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;start=40 ) to Weinmanns.....

I should complete the groupset and fit Mavic brakes.....but they were made by Modolo!!

When I use Campag style levers these days I wonder how we all used them BITD. I have largish hands and find that the Campag levers are very uncomfortable, being small and thin compared to modern STI's etc. My all time favourite is Universal which I used with Weinmann 500's for years.

I have the Modolo levers and also found them uncomfortable at first. I found if you cant them inwards toward the front wheel they fit my hands very well and now I really like them. Try this before you give up on them.

thanks.....will give it a go!

For bigger levers and bodies try Suntour Superbe :)

?? Campag record and suntour superbe hoods were always interchangeable, so I can't see what they might offer over campag in terms of comfort when 'on the hoods'

I find that a little strange, maybe it's the size and shape of the Suntour levers and not the size of the bodies?

I am in the oppossite camp in that I have small hands and find big levers a bit of a stretch, the early Campag levers were miles away from the bars with an awkward curve. The later ones were better. The Dura Ace were a nice shape for me with the levers curving towards the bars which are nice for small hands.

Oddly my Campag Mirage 10 speed brifters are nice, again I think it's because the levers themselves are quite small.
