Ok, what is being reported is the gist, not the detail, does anyone like it when they are minding their own business and someone looking for an argument invades your space ? I don't because I am also one who reads in pubs and sometimes I write but I also seem to attract the argumentative types, it is why I will not drink anywhere other than where I am known. But of asses I had one last night someone looking for aggro and there was me minding my own business, ear phones in and writing stuff in my journal, fortunately those that knew me closed in and the ass decided to move away, but it has been different in the past and may also be different in the future, who knows, because pubs, alcohol and people often do not mix well.
But as to the possibility that the ass mentioned in the OP was a retrobiker or even someone registered on this website, perhaps it was assumed that people interested in old bikes are all okay because of banter on forums and help when it asked for and with that I myself have experience kindness I am deeply touched by, where a retrobike member went far beyond what I expected, it does create a very positive impression. Now imagine how that impression might be tainted if one is verbally assaulted in a public place by another not known by sight who brings this website name up in his argument.
