UK Family holiday destinations. Recommendations?

go to batley its got the world famous frontier club!

On a more serious note... go north of the border its far less spoiled unlike the rest of the UK, is it any wonder they want independance? I personally like edinburgh, its probably my favourite UK destination! the mix of history and culture with the countryside right on its doorstep...something for everyone! (i suppose leith doesnt really count as a beach destination, but you are on the coast pretty much)

Cornwall! Just spent 2 weeks at Crantock Caravan Park (run by Parkdean). Very nice, good views, dog friendly and 5 minutes walk from the beach.

Did you eat at the pub in Crantock?
Trivia, that's where Aphex Twin first started DJ-ing.

Which one?

Unless things have changed in the last decade, as I recall there was only one pub there, the Albion Inn.

However, having just Wiki'd Aphex Twin, it turns out to be the Bowgie Inn further along the coast.

I much prefer the east coast to west. Why not have a look around the Whitby/Scarborough area? Price will be good, beautiful stretches of coastline and all the walking in the North York moors you could ever want. Could even be a bit naughty and take the kids to 'Go Ape' at Dalby then ride some trails while they fill their boots! Flamingo Land should keep 'em busy for a day too.

A friend of mine has a cottage on the Llyn Peninsula for rent - any good?

Not sure on rates, but very reasonable as I recall. I am fairly certain dogs are ok. PM me if you would like more details

Beautiful part of a beautiful country (the Mrs was in Bangor for a few years)

Didn't go into either but there is one directly across the road from the Albion that we did go in a few times. Can't remember it's name!

A S..very nice, in fact bloody nice :D but i a little out of my budget
Having looked at a few websites today, i think i might stay in Wales but go west and north a bit :D :D .

Most of my childhood holidays were spent in North Wales between Harlech and Barmouth - great scenery, good walking country, nice beaches and the sea wasn't too cold for swimming either. Also good for other stuff such as castles, narrow gauge railways, etc.
